EHang delivers second batch of passenger-grade autonomous aerial vehicles – VIDEO

by Michael Willoughby

EHang, the autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) technology platform company, today announced it had delivered the second batch of passenger-grade EHang 216 AAVs to customers, just three months after delivery of the same aircraft at the end of June.

These deliveries, which, together with the first batch of deliveries, have now reached customers in Asia, Europe and North America, are intended for potential uses in tourism, medical emergencies and general transportation, and mark one step closer to future commercial operations of AAVs.

EHang’s mission is to make safe, autonomous and eco-friendly air mobility accessible to everyone. It is seeking cost-efficient solutions for many of the challenges of urban life through its AAV platform. AAVs can shorten travel time, lessen pollution, expedite emergency services, increase convenience and save individuals and businesses time and money.

EHang’s Founder, Chairman and CEO Hu Huazhi said: “This delivery of AAVs marks a major step forward in EHang’s efforts to offer a full-stack solution for the emerging urban air mobility market on a global scale. We will continue to work closely with our customers, business partners and regulators on various issues including infrastructure rollout, flight permit, trial operations and technical support to enable a new era of urban air mobility.”

EHang has three main business pillars: urban air mobility (which includes passenger transportation and logistics), smart city management and aerial media solutions, all of which are underpinned by full-service operations support for its AAV customers that include training, maintenance, command-and-control centre set-up and flight monitoring.
