Finland: Everdrone to trial delivery of AED defibrillator

By Chris Stonor

Everdrone AB, a Swedish-based drone logistics company, has been chosen to trial the delivery of an AED defibrillator in Helsinki next month, reports

Forum Virium from Helsinki published in June an open call to drone companies for trials in the field of emergency medical services. Everdrone AB was chosen as the service provider for this particular pilot.

The company is to demonstrate the delivery of an AED defibrillator as a part of the trial, where information and data will be gathered on how a drone could accelerate the start of the life-saving measures. Also, the CO2 emissions of the drone-delivery compared to other modes of transport will be studied.

The trial is a part of the Carbon neutral drone service solutions in Southern Finland project, piloting and promoting carbon neutral drone services. At the same time, the program wants to develop new business models for the needs of various industries. The enterprise is funded from the European Regional Development Fund and the project will be completed by the end of this year.
