REGENT reports in a Linkedin post that another milestone has been unlocked in its Seaglider development programme with the prototype testing entering the foil mode.
“We successfully completed the first crewed foil-mode test of our Viceroy Seaglider prototype, a major step toward transforming regional coastal transportation,” said the company in a post. “Foiling enables easy maneuverability, smoother rides, and a seamless and wave-tolerant transition from the hull to the wing. At up to 50 knots, our Seaglider prototype is on track to become the fastest all-electric hydrofoiling vessel in the world. Next stop: flight.”
According to the company website:
“Viceroy is REGENT’s flagship Seaglider vessel, a 12 passenger vehicle that operates exclusively over water, traversing the sea in one of three modes: hull, hydrofoil, or flight in ground effect. Seagliders have 160 nautical mile range with existing battery technology (upgradeable to over 400 nautical mile range with next generation battery technology) and will enter service by mid-decade.”
