Supernal “reviewing investment plans but still targeting 2028 for S-A2 service launch”

Multiple media reports say that Hyundai Motor Group is reviewing its investment strategy for Supernal, its advanced air mobility (AAM) division.  The review is part of a broader reassessment of future mobility investments due to global market volatility, supply chain disruptions, and shifting capital priorities, say the reports. While Supernal is still aiming for a 2028 commercial launch of its S-A2 eVTOL aircraft, the group is reportedly adjusting its implementation plan.

According to the Chosun Daily: “Supernal, the group’s U.S.-based advanced air mobility subsidiary founded in California in 2021, recently laid off 53 employees—about 8% of its workforce—according to industry sources.”

Urban Air Mobility News has asked the company for a comment.
