FAA’s MOSAIC rule approval “opens door for AIR ONE to be first eVTOL qualified light sport aircraft”

The Federal Aviation Administration approval of the Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification rule (MOSAIC) (see https://www.urbanairmobilitynews.com/air-taxis/faa-updates-light-sport-aircraft-airworthiness-rule-extending-scope-of-entry-level-electric-aircraft/) has opened the door “for AIR ONE to become the first eVTOL qualified as a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA),” according to a Linkedin post from AIR.

“This is a groundbreaking milestone, not just for us, but for the entire aviation community,” continues the post. “Designed from day one to meet rigorous FAA standards, AIR ONE is now on a clear path to become the first certified personal eVTOL aircraft in the United States. This designation allows AIR to manufacture and sell AIR ONE directly to customers, a major step forward for the future of personal flight.

“This achievement comes after years of close collaboration with the FAA, ASTM, and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), working to ensure that modern technologies like eVTOLs, distributed electric propulsion, and fly-by-wire control systems have a rightful place in the skies.

“AIR is focused on personal aviation; an underserved space with immense potential,” concludes the post. “At the same time, we’re actively expanding in uncrewed logistics, leveraging our proven technology to support cargo and supply chain operations. With this certification update, our long-term strategy is validated, and our path is clearer than ever.”
