In a Linkedin post Robinson Helicopter Company has announced a partnership with magniX have to develop a battery-electric demonstrator based on the R66 helicopter platform.
“magniX, a leader in electric aviation propulsion, will contribute its integrated electric propulsion system, featuring the lightweight, high-speed HeliStorm engine designed for rotorcraft, along with its high-energy-density Samson batteries,” said Robinson. “This collaboration builds on magniX’s previous success in powering the world’s first piloted flight of a hydrogen-electric Robinson R44 helicopter.”
The first flight of the electric R66 is planned for late 2026.
