Pivotal demonstrates eVTOL response to public safety agencies in California

Pivotal has recently concluded three public safety demonstration events with its personal electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft across California, partnering with San Bernardino County Fire Department, Southern Marin Fire District (SMFD) and Cosumnes Fire Department.

The demonstrations included technical briefings, onsite precision crewed flights and interactive simulation sessions that allowed attendees to evaluate the aircraft’s handling, safety features and operational fit. Fire and EMS chiefs, dispatchers, and field personnel explored flight logistics, dispatch integration and use cases ranging from ambulance shortage to disaster response, demonstrating the potential of eVTOL aircraft for regions with dense road traffic or difficult terrain.

Pivotal’s eVTOL aircraft is a FAA Part 103-compliant ultralight, which does not require a traditional pilot’s license but does require Pivotal pilot certification through completion of Pivotal’s in-house training programme. The single-seat aircraft are designed for medics to act as both pilot and responder. They have detachable wings for transport and are designed to be able to land in tight spaces or disaster zones.

Pivotal is now seeking partner agencies for trial programmes in regions that meet specific criteria, including high emergency call volumes, urban-rural interfaces and challenging terrain.
