Urban air mobility (UAM) experts from around the world, including the UK Department for Transport (DfT), the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Canadian Research Institute for Aeronautical Innovation and the Netherlands Aerospace Centre will meet in Incheon tomorrow (November 19) to prepare for the commercialisation of the Republic of Korea’s K-UAM initiative and strengthen international cooperation.
The 2025 K-UAM International Conference, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and organised by the Korea Aviation Safety Technology Institute will be held ahead of and in conjunction with the K-UAM Confex event hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City on November 20-21.
MOLIT and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute have been hosting the K-UAM International Conference since 2021 to establish a foundation for global cooperation among domestic and international UAM experts. Over 150 individuals from businesses and academia have participated in the event annually. This year’s event is expected to see the largest participation ever, with over 10 related organisations and groups from seven countries.
The event will begin with presentations from government officials and key organisations from leading UAM countries, sharing domestic and international policy trends and roadmaps.
For example, the DfT will present its Future of Flight programme, and is expected to provide ideas for advancing Korea’s demonstration and R&D policies, as well as sharing updates on the reorganisation of its UAM commercialisation system, transitioning from demonstration to a state-led support programme for early commercialisation.
The Canadian Research Institute for Aviation Innovation will share policy trends from various countries with industry, academia and research participants, as well as introducing Quebec’s UAM commercialisation roadmap.
Representatives from UAM organisations and companies will also participate to share domestic and international certification trends and the current status of commercialisation. An FAA certification specialist who has been involved in the aircraft certification process will share their experience with Korean companies as they seek to obtain UAM aircraft certification and enter the global market.
Companies including ZeroAvia (UK), Eve Air Mobility (Brazil) and Intent Exchange (Japan), will present their aircraft development and demonstration status, as well as future commercialisation plans. Following the presentations, in-depth discussions will be held on global cooperation and market revitalisation measures.
