EHang reports in a Linkedin post that it has completed its milestone flights in the Alpine valley of Quinto, Ticino, Switzerland with its EH216-S eVTOL, making Switzerland the 22nd country to fly EHang’s autonomous technology.
“Set against the rugged Swiss Alps, this flight proved the EH216-S’s capability to conquer complex mountainous terrains, offering a sustainable, efficient alternative to traditional cable cars and roads,” said EHang. “This achievement was made possible through close collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) and our strategic partner, DroneVia.
In a related post EHang outlined the significance of the flight trials: overcoming terrain (demonstrating the adaptability of pilotless architecture in complex mountainous operating environments); sustainable connectivity (“a clean, sustainable, and highly efficient alternative to traditional infrastructure like cable cars, ferries, and roads”) and multi-use applications (paving the way for revolutionary advancements in passenger transportation, eco-tourism, regional logistics, and emergency response).
