China’s CoolFly launches Urban and Dream personal eVTOLs

China’s CoolFly its unveiled Urban, its standing-position personal aircraft, at the recent CoolFly Global Product Launch in Hangzhou, China.

“CoolFly describes Urban as the world’s first standing-position personal aircraft,” said the company. “The aircraft is fully electric and uses an enclosed-propeller propulsion system. It is equipped with CoolFly’s self-developed dual-redundant flight control architecture and triple-redundant inertial measurement units. While its initial applications are primarily recreational, the standing-position configuration also reflects CoolFly’s longer-term exploration of lightweight personal mobility,” said the company.

“Alongside Urban, CoolFly presented the Dream series of seated personal aircraft. Dream ST is built around lightweight construction and features an aerospace-grade titanium alloy cage frame. Its compact seated configuration is designed to make personal electric flight more approachable and practical. Dream Pro is designed for users seeking greater payload capacity and longer flight endurance. In manned flight testing with a 70 kg pilot, the aircraft achieved a flight time of 40 minutes and supports a maximum payload of 120 kg. It also incorporates a more advanced intelligent flight platform, including millimeter-wave obstacle-detection radar, route planning, and intelligent obstacle avoidance. For additional protection, Dream Pro comes standard with a whole-aircraft parachute system and impact-mitigation airbags.”

At the event CoolFly also introduced NA80, the company’s self-developed flight control system. NA80 uses a dual-redundant flight control architecture. Each flight control unit integrates three inertial measurement units, enabling the system to continuously monitor aircraft motion and support flight control across CoolFly’s product platforms.

Insurance policies for Urban and Dream have already been issued, including a comprehensive insurance package and overseas product liability coverage, said the company.
