EHang and Tsinghua University launch research institute to advance low-altitude aviation technology innovation

EHang has announced the establishment of the Tsinghua University-Guangzhou EHang Intelligent Technology Co Ltd.Joint Institute for Low Altitude Aviation Technology (JILAAT) in collaboration with Tsinghua University. The JILAAT will be a research centre for scientific research, technology innovation and talent development in the low-altitude aviation field. “By exploring new models for industry-academia collaboration, the JILAAT will drive breakthroughs and application in core technologies to support the sustainable growth of the low-altitude economy,” said EHang in a press release.

“EHang and Tsinghua University aim to leverage the JILAAT to accelerate scientific research, transform cutting-edge research into real-world applications. The collaboration brings together Tsinghua’s academic strengths and talent foundation in aerospace and engineering with EHang’s practical expertise in low-altitude aircraft R&D, manufacturing, and commercial deployment, creating a robust platform for innovation and sustainable development within the low-altitude aviation ecosystem….The JILAAT will deeply integrate the research teams engaged in low-altitude aviation technology-related research within the university, including the School of Aerospace Engineering, the School of Vehicle and Mobility, the School of Architecture, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Automation, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Department of Electrical Engineering. The JILAAT will focus on addressing critical technological challenges in the low-altitude aviation sector, advancing academic research in related fields, and accelerating industrialization process of low-altitude aviation technology.”
