The first Aero Toyota eVTOL flights in Japan will probably be a shuttle service connecting Toyota bases and factories, according to an interview with Aero Toyota President Hiroshi Kato recorded with media outlet NHK.
“We are currently in discussions with Joby Aviation to determine when we can introduce the aircraft,” he was quoted as saying.
“Toyota, Aero Toyota’s parent company, has made a significant investment in Joby Aviation….and is supporting the company by providing its production engineering expertise in the mass production of aircraft, reported another Japanese media outlet JWing. “Once Joby Aviation’s eVTOL S4 receives type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), Aero Toyota plans to use Joby Aviation aircraft to soar in Japanese skies.”
