Sarla Aviation has announced a partnership with Makmor to develop a nationwide vertiport ecosystem in India. According to a Linkedin post: “This collaboration will focus on integrating vertiports into residential, commercial, and hospitality developments across the country. Makmor brings deep expertise in greenfield infrastructure development and a strong network of regional and global partners. As momentum builds around electric and hybrid eVTOL technologies, Sarla Aviation, India’s first manufacturer of an eVTOL aircraft, will work closely with Makmor to identify and activate key locations that can host the vertiports of tomorrow—enabling a new era of urban air mobility.”
At the start of 2025 Sarla Aviation launched its six-seat Shunya eVTOL, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi. This six-seater eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) air taxi is set to transform urban air travel in India by introducing the world’s most economical and sustainable ride-sharing model. The company has announced plans to start air taxi services in Bengaluru by 2028, and then gradually roll out into other cities in India.
