Jekta, Open Skies Network partner to develop electric amphibious flights in Southwest UK

George Alafinov, Co-Founder and CEO of Jekta Aviation, in a Linkedin post has announced Jekta and the UK’s  Open Skies Network are partnering to explore options to accelerate the introduction of electric seaplane and cargo drone operations in the Southwest of the UK.

“Together with local stakeholders, we will assess what is needed at the region’s diverse harbours and maritime environments to enable amphibious aviation and integrate it with traditional land infrastructure and regional aviation,” said the post. “Our vision is to enable greater coastal connectivity through sustainable, short-hop mobility across Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. While our initial interest is to transport passengers, the opportunities for medevac, cargo, and emergency response applications are huge.

“With the working title Harbourlift, we plan to increase transportation options across the region while supporting real community needs sustainably.”
