Hyundai Motor Group’s eVTOL company Supernal has laid off most of its workforce.
According to media reports, initially highlighted in the The Air Current and confirmed by Linkedin posts from senior company executives, around 300 people were laid off at the company’s California plant on February 27, leaving a skeleton staff of around 70 to 80 people to continue operations.
In September 2025 the company paused its work on its aircraft programme. The company had developed a technology demonstrator which flew for the first time in March last year and had planned to launch its S-A2 prototype later this decade.
