In a Linkedin post Ratandeep Tripathi, Founder Vjaitra Air Mobility, reports that Vjaitra and founding company Darsh Dronobotics Systems have been granted India’s first-ever design patent for a complete aircraft/air taxi — a landmark moment in the history of Indian aviation and indigenous aerospace innovation, said the author.
“For decades, India has relied on imported aviation technology. Today, with the Vjaitra eVTOL aircraft, we are reversing the tide,” said Ratandeep Tripathi. “With this patent, India creates a new currency of intellectual property. We are poised to collaborate with other nations via Transfer of Technology (ToT), exporting our indigenous innovation to the world. This move directly fuels Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a USD 5 trillion economy, positioning India as a global hub for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).”
The Vjaitra VJ-220MAX is our all-electric aircraft has a 220 km range, carries one pilot plus four passengers or 500 kg cargo and cruises at 250 km/h.
The company is also developing the VJ-600MAX a hydrogen-cell powered eVTOLs with a range of 600 km.
