Volocopter and ADAC Luftrettung deepen partnership to deploy eVTOL EMS operations in Germany

Volocopter Technologies and ADAC Luftrettung are intensifying their strategic collaboration to advance the integration of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) VoloCity into emergency medical services in Germany, according to a Volocopter press release.

“This partnership is based on a joint initiative that began in 2018 as a research project by ADAC Luftrettung in close collaboration with the Institute for Emergency Medicine and Medical Management (INM) at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich,” said the release. “At that time, computer-assisted simulations evaluated the potential of eVTOLs for use in emergency rescue. After being acquired by Diamond Aircraft, Volocopter Technologies is now continuing the cooperation with enhanced capabilities and renewed momentum.

“This cooperation will play a key role in supporting VoloCity’s strong positioning in the urban air mobility and rescue markets. At the same time, ADAC Luftrettung will gain hands-on experience from integrating this next-generation aircraft into real-world rescue operations, preparing the organization for the operational shift toward sustainable, electric aviation.

“As the only eVTOL currently on the market that has reached such an advanced stage of technical maturity, the VoloCity offers ADAC Luftrettung a unique opportunity to design and refine a dedicated test program that aligns precisely with the demands of air rescue. This practical learning process will significantly inform ADAC’s future deployment strategies and ensure readiness for safe and effective implementation.”
