Volocopter targets 2026 for EASA certification – commercial operations in 2027

“We are convinced that we will be the first company worldwide to receive EASA type certification for an electrically powered, vertically taking off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) by the end of 2026, thus enabling commercial operations in 2027,” said Volocopter in its latest Linkedin post. “With the VoloXPro (successor of the 2X), we will open up the market for end customers in the ultralight segment. For the further development of the VoloXPro, the testing program for multicopters, which began in 2012 with the German Ultralight Aircraft Association (DULV), will be continued and intensified.”
The post highlighted that Volocopter has been included in the LÄND aerospace initiative of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

“With the state’s aerospace strategy, the aim is not only to maintain the existing strengths in the coming years but also to further expand them and open up new areas,” said the eVTOL company. “Volocopter plans a sandbox in Bruchsal. A sandbox is a small, isolated test environment where realistic flight conditions for the VoloCity and the VoloXPro can be tested.”
