ISO “making progress on developing wide-ranging vertiport standard”

In a Linkedin post, Sissel Thorstensen, head of the French delegation (AFNOR) to the ISO working group on vertiport standards, ISO/TC 20/SC 17/WG 1 – chaired by Jakub Wieczorkowski – gave an update on the group’s progress in developing ISO/CD 5491, a wide-ranging international standard for vertiport infrastructure, from layouts to safety zones, scalable for real-world small eVTOL operations.

“In coordination with SC 16/WG 6, we’re aligning docking and interface standards across the drone/eVTOL ecosystem,” she reported. “At DragonFlyPads, we’re proud to contribute with our software platform — enabling blockchain-secured air-to-ground and ground network reservations, agnostic, autonomous, and fully integrable via APIs with UTM and NATO C2 systems…..From draft to deployment: Reviewing expert input from Japan, China, Italy, France, and beyond — refining, aligning, and preparing for seamless integration into the global airspace.”
