EHang announces completion of first EH216-L cargo flight in Suzu, Japan

In a Linkedin post EHang has announced that its EH216-L pilotless eVTOL has successfully completed Japan’s first EHang drone cargo flight in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

“During the flight, the EH216-L carried 160kg of sand to simulate goods, following a pre-set route without the need for a pilot onboard,” said the report. “This demonstration showcased the aircraft’s ability to transport essential supplies across mountainous terrain and disaster-affected areas, where traditional logistics are often limited. The milestone flight was organized by Sky Mobility Japan in collaboration with MASC, aiming to explore innovative aerial logistics solutions for Japan. With a payload capacity of up to 250kg, a top speed of 130 km/h, and a flight range of 35 km, the EH216-L represents a powerful new tool for future emergency relief and regional connectivity.

“Looking ahead, this milestone flight not only paves the way for future commercial cargo eVTOL operations in Japan, but also lays the groundwork for the advancement of unmanned aerial logistics in Japan and beyond — supporting both everyday needs and critical humanitarian missions.”
