Bahrain and Eve Air Mobility sign AAM partnership – commercial operations in 2028

Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Eve Air Mobility. The signing took place during the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2025 in Bahrain. The agreement aims to advance sustainable air mobility solutions and develop the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft ecosystem in the Kingdom and the region.

“Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, underscored that the MoU reflects Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening its position as a regional hub for excellence and innovation in aviation,” said a press release from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. “He described the strategic partnership as a step toward making safe and sustainable aviation a tangible reality in Bahrain, the Gulf, and globally. The Minister added that collaborating with Eve, a trusted global partner in developing electric vertical aircraft, underscores Bahrain’s dedication to advancing a sustainable air transport ecosystem and fostering an innovative and forward-looking future.”

The MoU aims to accelerate the readiness of Bahrain’s regulatory, operational, and infrastructural environment for advanced air mobility operations. It envisions creating a testbed for new systems, developing safe and scalable vertiports, emphasising emission-free and low-noise operations, and training national talent. Test flights are scheduled to commence in 2027, followed by commercial operations in 2028, with plans to expand to international routes by 2029.

Eve is currently exploring luxury and tourist air mobility routes in several regional cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Istanbul, and Manama, aiming to provide fast transportation and unique experiences for residents and visitors alike.

“Eve’s eVTOL aircraft are equipped with technologies tailored to the region’s climate, including advanced UV and infrared protection, intelligent air-conditioning, and a Lift & Cruise design that minimises the impact of dust and sand, ensuring exceptional reliability and comfort even under the most challenging weather conditions,” said the press release.
