In a Linkedin post, Air New Zealand has announced it has reached a new milestone with the BETA TECHNOLOGIES ALIA CX300 officially arriving in Wellington, after two months of airspace integration trials in Hamilton. This marks the next phase of the airline’s electric aircraft tech demonstrator programme, exploring how next generation aircraft might operate in Aotearoa in the future.
According to Baden Smith, General Manager of Strategy, Networks and Fleet: “We’ve built knowledge to help understand how electric aircraft could safely and practically integrate into New Zealand’s airspace. With flights planned between Wellington and Blenheim, this stage will help us learn more about operating electric low-emissions aircraft in this part of home.”
