Korea to permit vertiports at maritime port facilities

The Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said that vertiports could be incorporated into the country’s maritime port facilities.

The move is part of the ministry’s Regulatory Innovation Promotion Plan, announced on April 8.

“In order to strengthen the connectivity between cities and ports, vertiports, which are urban aircraft take-off and landing spaces, will be permitted in ports, thereby promoting regulatory innovation in new industries,” the ministry said.

The announcement comes as Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport launches a competition for regional pilot projects to support national urban air mobility.
