According to a Linkedin post from Volocopter, pilots from ADAC Luftrettung “have successfully flown a VoloCity eVTOL under supervision in a real-world environment — supported by the SimX Groundstation.”
“For the first time globally, experienced operational pilots — not test pilots — have controlled an eVTOL using VR-supported ground station technology,” continued the post. “This achievement marks an important step toward making eVTOL operations scalable, practical, and ready for real-world deployment.”
The trials tested: transferability of helicopter and fixed-wing pilot experience to eVTOL systems; usability and efficiency of the ground control station; interaction between aircraft, pilot, and ground infrastructure; and direct feedback from future operators
“The results provide a strong foundation for the development of training concepts, operational procedures, and safety standards for next-generation aircraft,” said Volocopter.
“This first flight is a crucial step in making eVTOL technology accessible for practical use,” said Aaron Erd, Project Lead Multicopter at ADAC Luftrettung.
“The aircraft is highly stable and responds precisely to inputs — a solid platform for future pilot operations,” added Matthias Sing, Head of Engineering and Helicopter Pilot at ADAC Luftrettung.
