Joby reports first flight of the latest version of its Superpilot™ autonomy suite

Joby reports in an X post that the latest version of its next-generation Superpilot™ autonomy suite is flying.

“Last week, we flew the newest member of our growing fleet of modified Cessna 208s. This is our most advanced system yet, built on lessons from over six years of autonomous operations, and a significant step toward routine uncrewed operations in the National Airspace System. More to come this summer,” said the post.

Superpilot is Joby Aviation’s AI-based advanced autonomous flight technology, designed to enable autonomous taxi, takeoff, navigation, and landing with remote human supervision. It was acquired by Joby in 2024 from the autonomy division of Xwing.

The system had been tested by the US military  during the Resolute Force Pacific (REFORPAC) exercise. Integrated into a Cessna 208, the autonomous system logged over 7,000 miles, including a 2,416-mile autonomous flight lasting 14 hours, according to multiple media reports.
