Kuljeet Sandhu, founder and CEO of Nalwa Aero reports in a Linkedin post that the company has successfully flight-tested its scaled BOX-WING eVTOL aircraft, demonstrating hovering and forward flight with electric propulsion and an all-tilting-rotor system.
“We believe this represents a world-first achievement — successfully demonstrating an electric Box-Wing eVTOL aircraft with this unique all-tilting-rotor configuration, not previously achieved anywhere in the world, to this scale,” said Kuljeet Sandhu.
“Our preliminary aerodynamic studies indicate the potential for up to 40% greater aerodynamic efficiency compared with selected conventional aircraft configurations,” continued the post.
According to the company’s website the full-scale aircraft will feature eight tilting propulsion system with four rotors on front and rear wings, advanced fly-by-wire flight computer with autonomous capabilities and envelope protection; a 1000 kg payload capacity for maximum operational flexibility; and 450km full electric range with novel battery technology, or 1500km+ with hybrid hydrogen propulsion.
