NOEMI adds new applications to its electric amphibious aircraft design

Norway’s NOEMI Aerospace has unveiled a broader platform strategy that expands the company’s vision beyond its initial fully electric amphibious passenger aircraft programme.

“While the company remains firmly committed to its core mission, developing a fully electric amphibious aircraft for regional passenger transportation, NOEMI now sees significant long-term opportunities in adapting the same aircraft platform for additional mission profiles, propulsion configurations and dual use,” said the company in a press release.

“The strategy builds on proprietary intellectual property spanning aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, composite structures and propulsion integration, enabling future derivatives to share common architecture and development foundations.

“NOEMI was always designed as more than a single aircraft,” said Eric Lithun, Founder and CEO of Noemi Aerospace. “We are building a platform that can evolve over time and address multiple markets while leveraging shared technology, engineering and certification pathways.”

Potential future applications under evaluation include: land based passenger and commuter operations; cargo transport; government and special mission applications; search and rescue (SAR); skydiving operations; aerial firefighting; military dual use.

The company has also outlined a broader propulsion roadmap. “While the fully electric amphibious aircraft remains the core business case, future mission requirements may require hybrid-electric or conventional fuel-based configurations where greater range, payload or mission flexibility are needed,” said the company.
