UrbanV S.p.A and Speedbird Aero have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) in Italy.
This collaboration will unite UrbanV’s expertise in innovative aerial services with Speedbird Aero’s advanced drone technologies “to build a seamless, integrated ecosystem for advancing Innovative Air Mobility and cargo drone services,” say the partners in a press release.
The companies aim to drive the expansion of networks specifically optimized for drone delivery and services, allowing faster, greener, and more accessible aerial transport solutions.
Key elements of the partnership include: joint operational hubs (Integrating drone logistics operations into UrbanV’s existing and upcoming facilities); pilot projects across regions (launching pilot programs in Italy to showcase scalable urban drone delivery solutions and intermodal air mobility networks); advanced Technology Integration (embedding Speedbird Aero’s automatic flight platforms within UrbanV’s digital vertiport ecosystem for real-time coordination, tracking, and fleet management); and commitment to Sustainability (promoting carbon-neutral logistics and transportation through the use of electric, zero-emission aerial vehicles and optimized, eco-friendly route planning).
The first operational pilot programs under this partnership are slated to launch in 2025, with an initial site currently under evaluation in Italy.
