AirCar publishes new noise test results: “71.6dB at 30 meters…16dB quieter than a helicopter”

AirCar, in a Linkedin post, has published its latest noise test result – emitting just 71.6 dB at 30 meters, according to the company.

The post continues:

“Our latest noise test—personally conducted by our CEO Eray Altunbozar —shows just how quiet innovation can be: aircraft weight: 350 kg (770 lb); pilot weight: 72 kg (158 lb); measured noise (30 m ≈ 100 ft): 71.6 dB(A); wind speed: ~16.2 knots (~30 km/h).”

“A conventional light helicopter of similar capacity (typically produces ~88 dB at the same distance—over 16 dB louder than AirCar.  As a result, AirCar is perceived as 3x to 4x quieter than traditional rotorcraft to human ears. This isn’t just about decibels—it’s about proving that clean aviation can coexist with urban life.”

This is a preliminary result, said the company. “Helicopter noise certification data from the FAA and EASA is typically recorded at 250 ft (76 m) or 500 ft (152 m).”
