Vertical Aerospace has announced in a Linkedin post that it has received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA) for its Safety Management System (SMS) and its incorporation into the company’s Design Organisation Approval (DOA).
“This approval is part of updated aviation regulations brought in last year (Part 21J) that ensure companies like ours meet the highest safety standards when designing aircraft,” said the company in a post. “It’s a key step on our journey to certify the VX4 and bring it into commercial service …It’s a critical requirement on the path to Type Certification – aircraft approval needed to begin commercial operations. It proves we have the right systems, people, and processes to design a safe aircraft. It shows regulators, customers and investors that we’re building a safety-first organisation.”
