In a Linkedin post the African Drone Forum has published a short white paper “eVTOLS in Africa – what they are, why they matter and what’s next.”

According to the overview:

“eVTOLs have the potentials to make impact in these areas:

  • Medical logistics – Blood, vaccines, and lab samples
  • Cargo delivery – Agriculture, e-commerce, humanitarian aid
  • Tourism & safari access – Eco-flights in protected areas
  • Emergency response – Evacuations, flood and disaster relief Drone operators are already bridging the gap, eVTOLs can expand that frontier.”

But challenges include fragmented regulations across countries, a lack of vertiports and charging stations, high upfront costs for startups and public trust and airspace coordination issues.
