Amazing drone light show at American university to honour those medical staff on pandemic frontline

Verge Aero, a leader in high performance drone light shows, delivered an aerial tribute this week at the University of Pennsylvania campus, for those medical staff and first responders on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic, report pennovation.upenn.edu.

Close to 140 illuminated drones flew in formations above the iconic Franklin Field stadium featuring images on the current environment and sharing hope and love for better days ahead. There were also reminders to wear masks, wash hands, and maintain social distancing. Frontline professionals viewing the show from nearby at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital saw messages that inspired, entertained, and thanked them for all their efforts supporting, protecting, and saving lives in their community.

“The show was planned to ensure maximum visibility for those inside the hospitals and allow them to view the show while maintaining social distance,” says Verge Aero CEO, Nils Thorjussen. “This was an opportunity for us to donate our resources and expertise to stand in solidarity with these brave heroes, and convey the thanks of the American people. We are profoundly grateful for their tireless work, dedication, and sacrifice.”

Site logistics for the event were coordinated with the support of staff members in Penn’s Divisions of Public Safety, Environmental Health, Facilities & Real Estate Services, Athletics, and PennSTAR, as well as the City and FAA. Verge Aero is fully approved by the FAA to fly drone shows in the US.
